Thank You from Orrin "Checkmate" Hudson and Be Someone, Inc.

This is an exciting day at Be Someone, Inc.! We have just been informed that we won the WSB-TV, Delta Community Credit Union contest that will provide a $10,000 check to be used to expand the Be Someone Training Center efforts.
The bottom line is we will be able to reach more children through the chess game of life! We have trained over 40,000 children and our goal is 1 million. Thank you for being a part of changing the world one move at a time.

We only won this contest because of your support. Your votes over the period of the last 21 days sent a clear message to me and my team. You believe in our work. Now, it is our turn to return that message to you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and the hearts of my team. We will not let you down!

"THE STORY" by Tracey Scott Wilson

Grand Rapids, Michigan Area
Admission is FREE with a cash gift of any size at the door! First come, first seated as Kretschmer Auditorium only seats about 200... Doors open at 7pm.

The Story is a play that asks a lot of questions - questions about truth, integrity, ambition, class, and about race. It's not, however, a play with a lot of answers. But in this case, that's a good thing.

An ambitious black newspaper reporter goes against her editor to investigate a murder and finds the best story... but at what cost? Wilson explores the elusive nature of truth as the boundaries between reality and fiction, morality and ambition become dangerously blurred.

The Story begins with a tragedy: a young, white, married couple makes some wrong turns while driving in a dangerous part of an unnamed city, and the husband is shot to death by a black assailant. The police are investigating, but so is a local newspaper, and the story becomes less important than the way the newspaper conducts itself while chasing the story... the show ends on an unnerving note; one gets the sense that the provocative events seen so far are just the tip of the iceberg. But you won't feel cheated by the ending of The Story; you'll be left with questions that will be rattling around in your head for days.
